Sanong Sungkam, age 87, passed away peacefully after a life filled with dedication, hard work, and love. Born in rural Thailand to a family of rice farmers, Sanong's journey took her far beyond her humble beginnings.
For nearly 60 years, Sanong was an integral part of the Maclaurin family she served as caretaker, first in Bangkok and later in the United States. Despite limited formal education, her formidable work ethic and natural talents allowed her to excel in managing households and staff.
Sanong was known for her fierce devotion to her duties, her impeccable homemaking skills, and her mastery of traditional Thai cuisine. Her cooking lessons were memorable experiences that showcased her creativity and expertise.
Her connection to the land remained strong throughout her life. While her early years were spent tending rice fields in Thailand, she later adapted her skills to maintain the grounds of the New Hampshire property. Sanong’s diligence helped keep the property beautiful and well-maintained.
In her later years, Sanong found contentment and community among friends at Cedar Healthcare, where her warmth and character continued to touch those around her.
Sanong will be remembered as a loyal, hardworking individual who, despite cultural and linguistic challenges, became a second mother to the family she cared for. Her legacy of love, dedication, and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Hampton.
