Sarah “Sally” B. (Bean) Coen, 91, of Contoocook, NH passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 27, 2026, at the Merrimack County Nursing home. She has joined her late husband of 65 years, Richard Coen, who passed in 2023. Sarah was born on June 5,1935 in Concord, NH to the late John Bean and Doris (Pritchard) Bean. Sarah was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and she will be remembered for the ways in which she consistently showed up for those she loved.

Sarah graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1953. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Keene Teacher’s College. Sarah spent her career at Hopkinton High School where she taught Home Economics. After teaching, Sarah eagerly took on the role of being a grandmother, and she spent many years helping to raise and take care of her two grandchildren, who were the highlight of her life. Sarah especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She had many hobbies, including gardening, cooking, sewing, and knitting. She was an avid reader and spent many years volunteering at the Hopkinton Town Library in her retirement. Sarah loved to spend summers with family and friends on Lake Winnipesauke at their camp on Welch Island.

She is survived by her three sons, Allen Coen (Alyssa), Scott Coen (Vicki) and Daniel Coen. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Adam (Kaitlyn) Coen and Heather Coen; her two great-grandchildren, Bennett and Gwendolyn Coen and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard A. Coen, her parents John Bean and Doris (Pritchard) Bean, her brothers John (Jack) Bean, George Bean, Robert Bean and her sister Drusilla Cox.

No formal service will be held at this time.
