Sarah Ann (Ruppel) Coffey, 87, died August 2, 2025, at home in Plymouth, NH. To those who loved her, she was best known as Sally, Mum, and Grandma.
Sally was born on February 15, 1938, in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of Harold and Isobel. She attended Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, OH and graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart, in Chestnut Hill, MA.
Sally was the wife of Frederick Paul Coffey, Jr. They were married on October 27, 1962, in Chagrin Falls, OH. Sally and Fred initially raised their family in Hingham, MA. It was while living here that her love of sailing developed. She was a member of the Hingham Yacht Club.
In 1981, Sally and Fred moved their family to Ft Myers, FL to begin a new business venture. They started Coffey Yacht Charters at Burnt Store Marina on Charlotte Harbor. Many happy years were spent on the water here. Sally sold the business after Fred’s death. She then went on to have a successful career in real estate and as an antique dealer.
She later moved back to New England where she resided in Falmouth and Hull, MA and most recently Plymouth, NH.
Of most importance to Sally was her family. She was preceded in death by her children, Mary, Freddie and Kevin. She is survived by her daughters: Susan, Margaret (Yoder), Moira, Karen (Johnson) and her son, Michael. She is also survived by her granddaughters: Caitlyn, Erin and Hana Coffey, grandsons: Patrick and Joseph Coffey, Brett and Troy Yoder, Brennan, Connor, Nolan, and Logan Johnson, and great-grandson, Dale Perkins, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:30AM Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Resurrection of the Lord Parish, Hingham, MA. A private family burial will take place following the mass at St Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA.
The family will host a memorial reception later that evening, 5:00 pm at Sandbar, 297 Nantasket Avenue, Hull, MA.
