Sarah M. (Quinn) Hoak 83, died peacefully on July 1, 2015 at Bedford Hills Nursing Center, Bedford NH. She was a compassionate CNA for many years at the former Country Gardens Nursing Home, Swansea, MA and a private duty CNA previous to that for many years.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Verdie (Cox) Quinn. She was born on September 28,1931 in Kinston, NC. She lived there until the late fifties and then raised a family in Pennsylvania and Barrington, RI. In her later years she moved back to NC where she enjoyed being reunited with family and friends. In her last year of life, she lived in NH with two of her sons and their families.
She is survived by her four sons, daughter and their spouses. Michael Jackson and his wife Janet, Steven Hoak and his wife Holly, Craig Hoak and his wife Cheryl, Kimberly Barsamian and her husband David, Todd Hoak and his wife Carolina. She is also survived by her sister Betty Lyerly and predeceased by her sisters Rebecca Hobby, Francis Turnage and Juanita Pruitt. Sarah was a wonderful grandmother to Michelle, Alicia, Erin, Ashley, Melanie, Marc, Callie, Kyle, Kelsey, Collin, Isabelle and Tristan. She also loved her great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. Sarah shared her beautiful voice by singing jazz in local clubs in Providence, RI and had a few gigs in which she was the star. She had many friends who shared her love of music in RI. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, painting, antiquing, reading voraciously, shopping and playing scrabble.
There will be a celebration of Sarah's life for family and friends. The specifics are not yet known. The family will communicate this at a later date.
