Your Hug Meant the World
Nobody else held us so tight
Or made us feel so right
No one's eyes shined so bright with love
As our mom, who is now high above.

Sarah Mae Knox (Higgins), 86 years of age, of Narragansett, Rhode Island, got her wings and went to walk with the angels on January 19, 2024. In her final moments she reminisced on her many cherished memories of family and friends. Sarah Mae passed comforted in knowing that she was going to reunite with her parents (Delmont and Eva Higgins) and siblings (Buddy, Dolores, and Constance) who she spoke about in her final breaths.
Sarah Mae was born on May 8, 1937, to Eva Higgins (DeVoe), and Delmont Higgins in Millinocket, Maine. Sarah Mae married Stanley James Knox from Presque Isle, Maine and went on to have two children, Michael H. Knox who resides in Narragansett, Rhode Island, and Bethany J. Knox who currently resides in New Hampshire.
Sarah Mae was predeceased by brother Buddy Higgins, Dolores “DoDo” Allen (Higgins), and Constance “Conny” Higgins. Sarah Mae is survived by Roger “Sonny” Higgins and wife Gayle Higgins, Allen “Butch” Higgins and wife Lynn Higgins, and Susan Johnson (Higgins). Her nurturing spirit, unwavering love, and boundless kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Sarah Mae’s greatest passion was supporting her children, as evident by her presence at all their athletic events. She enjoyed many activities; making jigsaw puzzles, reading romance novels, completing word searches, and spending time with her furr babies who she loved so deeply. Her legacy of compassion and wisdom will continue to inspire us. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association and to the American Kidney Fund, an organization Sarah Mae and her family felt strongly about.
