Scott Norman Bourgoin, 58, of Bedford, NH, passed away on July 14, 2019, at the Community Hospice House of Merrimack after a valiant battle with cancer. He fought every step of the way, viewing setbacks as just a bump in the road and small wins as huge victories. He was a truly courageous man whose devotion to his family and faith, especially in the last few years of his life, never wavered.
Scott was born in Edmundston N.B, Canada, on March 8, 1961 and lived the early part of his life in Northern Maine, where his family originated. In his early teens he lived in Brooklyn, New York, later moving to Long Island before making New Hampshire his home.
Scott will always be remembered by his family and friends for his sense of humor and practical jokes. Throughout his life he lived by his own rules. A dare devil from an early age, he thought nothing of sledding off the roof of the two-story family home or jumping obstacles with his reconstructed bicycle.
He had a gift and passion for mechanical work and was blessed to have made it his career, having retired recently from the Department of Public Works with the Town of Merrimack. He was always happiest under the hood of a vehicle, and no truck was too large or car too small for him to tackle. Scott especially prided himself on taking discarded items and giving them new life from rebuilding a utility trailer ready for the rust heap, to creating a walkway with scrap lumber.
His family brought him tremendous joy, from the love of his life, Linda, who was his rock these last few years, to his children, the pride of his life. He took the most pleasure from attending his sons' sporting events, or teaching them the basics of building or repairing most anything.
Scott will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 16 years Linda (Bell) Bourgoin, and their three sons, Tyler, Shane and Brandon, along with his step children Juniper Lowe, Emrys (Jolonda) Lowe; grandson Elijah Lowe; and father-in-law and friend, Ernie Bell.
He is survived by his father and step mother Norman & Irene Bourgoin of Haines City FL, his mother Tracy Leonard of Nashua NH, and five siblings, Joyce (John) Woodrow of Hollis NH, Gail Esposito of Amherst NH, Tim Bourgoin of Nashua NH, Robin (Bud) Abbott of Merrimack NH, Brian (Tanya) of East Haddam CT, and brother-in-law Sean (Nancy) Bell of Kingston MA. Scott will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will all miss him dearly.
The family would like to thank the Community Hospice House of Merrimack for their support and outstanding care in the last days of Scott's life.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 9th at 10:00am, at St Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, NH, with condolences times starting at 9:00am. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to a fund set up for his young sons, Shane and Brandon at: The Bourgoin Memorial Fund c/o TD Bank 40 NH-101A, Amherst, NH 03031.
