Scott
Klark
Mar 22, 1975 — Sep 17, 2026
Scott Benjamin Klark, 51, of Norwich, VT, passed away on September 17, 2026 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH. He was the son of John Klark and Patricia Wood.
Scott grew up in Woodsville, New Hampshire, and spent his summers in Barnet, Vermont on Harvey's Lake. He graduated from Woodsville High School in 1993. Scott enjoyed working as a lifeguard at Whale’s Tale throughout high school. After graduation, Scott went on to Colby-Sawyer College, earning a BS in Business Administration and making a handful of friends he kept for the rest of his life. Scott also earned a Juris Doctorate from Franklin Pierce Law School.
After living in southern New Hampshire while attending law school, Scott settled in West Danville, Vermont in 2005, with former wife Margie (Truax) Klark. He remained in West Danville for almost 20 years in the family home, where he raised his children, attending many school and sport functions. He held his daughters as his greatest achievement.
He spent many years in the car industry, working in both finance and management. Later in his career, he returned to practicing law, first as a prosecutor for the Washington County (VT) State’s Attorney, then the Coos County (NH) Attorney. Most recently, Scott served as a NH Assistant Attorney General. His directness and quick mind served him well, both in these roles and in other areas of his life.
Scott was happiest when he was in motion, whether that was water skiing, downhill skiing, riding his motorcycle, playing soccer, golfing or snowmobiling with his girls. He loved camping, gardening, and exploring state parks. After his diagnosis, he leaned into his love of travel and took several trips around the country, visiting family and friends while checking many items off his bucket list. He had a dry sense of quick humor and a gift for spinning a tall tale, and he never minded an audience. It was his sense of humor that his wife Heidi fell in love with. They met in 2023, and they were engaged on Christmas Day 2025. He was diagnosed with cancer a week later, and they married shortly after that.
Scott was predeceased by his father, John Klark; stepmother, Janet Klark; stepfather, Gary Wood; grandparents Winthrop and Thelma Klark and Robert and Mona Gibson; and former mother-in-law Wendy Truax.
He is survived by many loved ones, including his daughters, Lilli and Leah Klark; his wife, Heidi Cruz; his mother, Patricia Wood; his sister, Lori Maxim; his niece and nephew, Mya Maxim and Kolby Maxim; his great-nephew, Monty; his aunts, Joanne Mann and Lindsay Trombley; his aunt and uncle, Amy and Allen Wright; his former partner, Jenni Lavoie; and many cousins and friends.
A celebration of Scott's life will be held at a later date.
For those wishing to make a donation in Scott's memory, the family asks that gifts be directed to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire (98 Hitchcock Ave. Lebanon, NH 03784).
