Boscawen - Sharon B. (Beaton) Geary, 89 passed away September 11, 2018. She was born in Littleton, NH, daughter of Herbert and Thelma (Revoir) Beaton.
After graduating from Littleton High School, she moved to Manchester to work with New England Telephone. She then moved to Boston where she was employed by the General Adjustment Bureau. After moving back to Littleton, Sharon worked as a legal secretary, Dispatcher and Bailiff for Littleton P.D., a Special Deputy for the Grafton County Sheriff's Dept., and held many other jobs â she was never afraid of work. She was especially proud to own a specialty gourmet shop, Cheer n' Cheese, in Franconia, something she always wanted to do. She worked until over the age of 80 retiring from the Lisbon Regional School.
Sharon was appointed by Governor Meldrim Thomson to serve on the Governor's Commission on Crime and was a member of the Littleton Emblem Club, serving as district deputy. She enjoyed her many friends and activities, including her horse Sunshine, golf in Bethlehem, family time at Forest Lake, trips to Cape Cod and Ogunquit, Maine and trips to Canada and Foxwoods to try her luck at the slots. Later in life, she took up adult coloring which brought her contentment and comfort.
She moved to Bow, NH in 2012 to be close to family and then 4 years later to the Merrimack County Nursing Home, where she was well liked and given the title of "Official Greeter", spending her days in the atrium or sunroom greeting visitors and chatting with residents. She was honored with a Citizenship Award for "outstanding qualities of kindness within the community and sense of responsibility and helpfulness to others".
She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Beaton and her brother, Herbert Beaton, Jr. ("Buddy").
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Colleen Kurlansky and husband Rob Harrington of Bow; grandson, Robert Kurlansky and wife Holly of Webster, and a great-grandson, Rob, (his SuperNana); a sister, Theodora "Teddy" Carbonneau; a special cousin who spent much time with her, Susan Hunt of Contoocook; and many other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She will be remembered as someone who was always willing to share a smile and conversation with a special talent of making all comfortable.
SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton, NH. A brief service will take place at 12:30. Family and friends are invited to attend. The Cremation Society of NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
