Sharon (Mattice) Higgins

Sharon (Mattice) Higgins, known to some as "Mom", "Midge", "Sis", passed on to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 17th, 2023.  She was 77 years old.  Sharon was born September 24, 1945 to Gage Mattice and Pauline Ricker-Rand.  She grew up in Chichester on Canterbury Road and then raised her own children on King Road in Chichester.  She has always been fond of Chichester and was a devoted member of the Chichester United Methodist Church.

Sharon had a feisty spirit and a giving heart.  She was a very independent woman who was always there for her family and friends through celebrations and trials in life.  She loved horses!   Last year, she went to a "Dude Ranch" with family members and had a fantastic time.  She spent many summer vacations at Drakes Island with the Ricker Crew and last month she had a wonderful trip to California to see her family, Allison, Nick and baby Brian Scott.  She has had many career adventures including, a Tuperware consultant, Licensed hair stylist, waitress at Havenwood, and homecare visiting LNA.  She had once owned a ceramic studio and even a gas station!

She was a devoted mom.  Sharon raised her two children in a Christian environment, making sure that we all made it to church as a family on Sunday morning with Grammy Ricker.  She worked long, hard hours to pay for Christian Schools for both Bob and Brenda after they attended Chichester Elementary.

She leaves behind her son, Robert Edward Potter and daughter-in-law, Pam, daughter, Brenda Potter Mohr, granddaughter, Allison Mohr and partner Nick Mudgett and great-grandson, Brian Scott Mudgett.  She also leaves her brothers Harry Mattice and wife Caren, Charlie Rand and wife Janet and deseased brother Edward Rand.

Sharon was so proud of her "Ricker Family" and enjoyed a special bond with her Aunt Lois McLoud and cousins Rob and Deb McLoud, Marilynn and Earl Weir, along with family friends, Teressa and Brendan.  Her church family was so dear to her as well as many, many more family members and friends.  (YOU know who you are!)

Sharon hid her illness from many, not wanting anyone to worry about her.  To her daughter, she expressed that she was ready to go and be with Jesus and "It was Well with her Soul".  She told many at the Concord Hospital that "She was not afraid to die, I am a Christian!"   Mom, I know you are riding horses with Jesus.  Sharon leaves so many memories for us all.  She will be missed.

SERVICE: Services will be held on Saturday, June 24th at 11:00AM at the Chichester United Methodist Church with a luncheon to follow.
