Sheila Brooks

Sheila Mae Brooks passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on July 19th 2021, ending her battle with cancer. Sheila was born on Dec 9th 1957 to Clinton “Joe” Goodwin and Phyllis (Briggs) Goodwin of Waterford, ME. She attended Waterford Elementary School and Oxford Hills High School.

Sheila met her husband Richard “Brooksie” Brooks in 1973 on the side of the road and they married March 9th 1974. They remained happily married for 46 years until Richards passing May 3rd 2020. They have two children; Richard Brooks Jr. and his better half Ann Ward of Somersworth, NH and Virginia Sacco of Berwick, ME.
She is predeceased by her Father Clinton “Joe” Goodwin, Sister Lorraine McCullough and her Brother John Goodwin.


She is survived by her Mother Phyllis (Briggs) Stanton of Paso Robles, CA. Her sisters; Suzanne “Sue” Hayward, Lorna Goodwin both of Bridgton, ME, Her brother Willard “Bill” Goodwin and his wife Bonnie of Harrison, ME, Her sister Cordelia “Corri” Perry of Paso Robles, CA. A large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and three grandchildren; Clinton Hart, Jacob Hilton, and Sophia Sacco.


Sheila worked several jobs throughout her working career, the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Shop 26, the Portsmouth Regional Hospital Cafeteria along with various retail jobs. She should be remembered most for the countless hours she donated to the VFW and American Legion with “Brooksie” always at her side, they were both extremely dedicated and devoted members.


A graveside service with internment will be held at New Hampshire Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH on July 29th 2021 at 10:00am, followed by a celebration of life at Somersworth American Legion Post 69, 45 Washington St. Somersworth, NH 03878 starting at 2:00pm, all are welcome.


In lieu of flowers you may make donations in Sheila’s name to The American Legion of NH Oratorical Scholarship by mailing a check to The American Legion Dept of NH, 21 S. Fruit St. Concord, NH 03301.
