Sheila M. O’Connor, age 89, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of June 19, 2026, at The Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 10, 1937, Sheila grew up in Somerville, where she attended Saint Anne’s Parish. She graduated from Matignon High School before continuing her education throughout her life, reflecting her enduring love of learning. A lifelong student of philosophy, Sheila attended Wheaton College, Massasoit Community College, and Cape Cod Community College, taking courses over many years to broaden her knowledge and pursue her intellectual interests.
Sheila married and raised her family in Avon, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Colleen M. O’Connor, and her son, Patrick F. O’Connor.
For 27 years, Sheila dedicated her career to the University of Massachusetts Boston, where she served in the Office of Financial Aid and retired as Assistant Director of Financial Aid. She took great pride in her work and in helping students pursue higher education.
Sheila is survived by her daughter, Holly G. Reardon, and her grandson, Jackson M. Reardon, both of Bedford, New Hampshire. her sister Nancy Armstrong of Bellingham as well as many extended other cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Community Hospice House for the exceptional care, comfort, and kindness they provided during Sheila’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Sheila’s memory are invited to make a donation to Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire.
