Shirley Elaine Owens, was born in 15 June 1936 to Hildegard Mcleod and John Winship. While little is known of Shirley's early life, family lore understands she was well known and liked by her high school comrades and friends. Additionally thru the years, her children learned that her nickname during this period of her life was "Bunny". While Shirley would never explain how or why she had been granted this nickname it is anticipated it was due on her kindness and thoughtfulness she carried throughout her life and surely extended to all her friends at that time.
While it is uncertain why or how Shirley moved to Florida in the mid 1950's, she met her soon to be husband in the 1954 time frame and married Arthur L Owens of Boston Massachusetts. In early 1956 Shirley and her new husband returned to the Boston area as the opportunities for work improved in the North. They moved in with Arthurs mother at 163 Lasell Street in West Roxbury Boston until they could secure an apartment on Centre Street .
By 1958 Shirley and Arthur had moved to Medfield MA. Shirley worked diligently as a mother, housewife and business associate supporting her husband's construction company. Shirley's kindness ensured that the family was well supported and the children had every opportunity to thrive. In the early 80's Shirley went on to earn a nursing degree and to work a short time in the very demanding field of nursing.
She is survived by three of her four sons. Klifford who runs a successful business in Laconia with wife Traci and 2 grandchildren, Keith in Bergen Norway, Kevin deceased 1975, and Kerry & wife Ingrid three grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren in Virginia and Illinois.
