Sidney Clayton Ellis, 85, of Newport NH, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2022, surrounded by his family. Sid was born to his parents Edward and Jesse Ellis on March 15, 1937 in Concord NH. He was the youngest of four children. Sid attended Concord High School and later went on to serve in the US Army as a Specialist-III- Corporal from January 1955 until September 1962.  Sid is survived by his loving wife Marie Ellis of 64 years, devoted daughters, Daphne Ellis, Lorry Collier & her husband, Ernie. He was the proud grandfather of Nicole (Ellis) Chambers and her husband Brian, Nathan Collier, Jennifer (Collier) Harthan and her husband Tom, Christine Collier, and Alisabeth Collier. Kiki and Sadie, his beloved cats, will deeply miss him. Sid was greeted in heaven by his beloved son, Larry and his mother Jesse. The grocery business was Sid’s heart and soul. Grand Union Supermarket moved him and his family to Newport, NH in 1961 where he spent the rest of his life raising his family, owning the local IGA grocery store and retiring.  Sid loved to spend time with his family. Gathering everyone for a meal was his absolute favorite thing in the world especially when it involved a glass of white zin. Sid was an avid fisherman & hunter, he loved to spend time walking in the woods of New Hampshire as well as camping with his friends in Maine. The family would like to thank Tammy O’Brien and her team along with the compassionate staff of Bayada Hospice of Vermont for the excellent care they provided Sid and his family.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
