Stanley Chase Pingree, 88 years young, of 68 Ledge Farm Rd. died Monday afternoon with family and Hospice caregiver at his side. Stanley had lived in Nottingham for the last 7 years, having moved from New Castle, NH, to be in the new family quarters. He was born in Manchester NH, November 24, 1916. He was a son of Arvilla (Gordon) and Fred Pingree. He was the youngest, and last to pass on, in a family of 6 children; Gordon, Ruth, Robert, Richard and Thomas. Stanley was an excellent skier, tennis player, hiker, birder, woodworker and organizer. He served in the US Army in WWII as a corporal in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy during the North Apennines and Po Valley Campaigns. Stan worked as a shipper at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Upon retirement he worked as a gardener/caretaker of an estate in New Castle. He was married to Elinor Hanscom from Dover NH, for which their daughter is grateful. Elinor passed away in 1978, Stan remarried Wilda Massey from Epping NH. Wilda and Stan were together until Wilda’s passing in 1995. Stanley is survived by his daughter Sarah, her husband Clifford and their two marvelous children Koko Elinor and Willie Stanley Evans. Stan’s nephews: Richard, Robert, Bruce and Geoffrey Pingree. His great love for his entire family will be remembered. We will miss him and keep his birds fed. Memorial service for family and friends will be held at his home in Nottingham, Sunday, March 13th from 1-3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Rd, Exeter NH 03833 or the NH Audubon Society. We greatly appreciate all their help and care of Hospice. Thank you.
