Stanley Podlaseck

Stanley E. Podlaseck, 82, died September 1, 2017, at his home in Manchester, NH with his loved ones by his side.

Born in Hazleton, PA on March 10, 1935, Stan was the son of the late Stanley and Veronica (Berish) Podlaseck. He received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins in 1956 and completed graduate programs in Nuclear Engineering at Penn State and the University of Chicago.

Stan worked at Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) for 38 years on a variety of projects ranging from the Viking Mars Program to the Space Shuttle Launch Complex, where he acted as Principal Engineer. In 1986, he was recognized as Engineer of the Year by the United States Air Force Association. He was also author of the 2-volume Nonmetallic Materials Handbook (1979, 1982). After his retirement from Martin Marietta, Stan served as Senior Vice President of Engineering at an aviation technology startup.

Stan married Cina Trotta, his wife of 61 years, in Baltimore in 1956.

He is survived by Cina; son Mark and his partner Steve Bryant; daughter Laura Meredyth; granddaughter Marissa Meredyth, her partner Jeremy Leonard, and their son (and Stan's great-grandson) Forrest Meredyth Leonard; granddaughter Nicole Meredyth; and many grandpets and great-grandpets. He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph and James.

More than anything else, Stan enjoyed spending time with his family — so much so that he and Cina moved to Vermont to be close to their granddaughters, Marissa and Nicole. His hobbies included cooking, collecting books, and traveling in California and the Southwest.

The family would like to thank the VNA of Manchester and Southern New Hampshire for their kindness and support, and asks that Stan's friends perform an act of kindness in his name.

A celebration of Stan's life will be held by his family at a later date.
