Stephanie Labbe-Wallace died at her home in Atkinson, New Hampshire on Thursday evening, June 18, 2015 with her husband and sister at her side. She was born January 17, 1953 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Barbara and Darius Mark (Rock) Labbe. She attended Portland schools, graduating from Deering High School in 1971. She and her older sisters all worked at Riverside Golf Course in their high school summers, beginning a life- long love of golf for Stevie.
Upon graduation from high school, she began working for New England Telephone in Portland , advancing quickly to management positions. She moved to New Hampshire and worked out of Boston, Marlborough, and New York, traveling all over the country leading training workshops. She later continued her career with Verizon and graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in 1999. She began her own company, TRS Quality Assurance in 2004, continuing her work with communication for the hearing impaired.
Stevie married Wayne N. Wallace in 1981, living first in Nashua before buying their home in Atkinson in 1983. As a couple, they were active in racquetball, wine tasting, photography and birding. They enjoyed traveling together or with friends or family, with Stevie finding wonderful lodgings, activities and restaurants wherever they went all over New England, and in favorite locales such as Bermuda, the Bahamas, Williamsburg, Europe, and in recent years, Arizona. She enjoyed the beauty and challenge of playing golf wherever they went.
After retiring due to illness in 2013, Stevie became even more active in the New Hampshire Women's Golf Association, was a member of the Board of Directors and elected President in 2013. Her goal was to use her excellent skills with technology and business to encourage all generations to participate in and continue the traditions in the game she loved.
Her husband Wayne would like to thank Merrimack Valley Hospice for their help and direction in keeping Stevie comfortable in her last months.
Stevie is survived by her husband, Wayne, her golf partner sister, Daphne Millay, of Portland, her sister Jackie Drummey of Phoenix, Arizona, her sister Debbie Brown of Cumberland Foreside, Maine, and her stepdaughter, Kelty Wallace of Pittsfield Maine, as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and Kelty 's daughters.
As she wished, her ashes will be scattered near the Isle of Shoals. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hampshire Women's Golf Association Scholarship Fund.
