Stephen M. Clough

Stephen (Steve) Clough, 55, of Hamptonville, NC, passed away on March 7, 2025 in Mont Vernon, NH surrounded by loved ones after a short but difficult battle with cancer.

Steve was born on August 27, 1969 to Thomas Llewellyn Clough, Sr. of Boomer, NC and Brenda Lee Clough (deceased 2017). He began working in the HVAC field right out of school and became well known in the southern New Hampshire area for his position at Ciardelli Fuel Company in Milford, NH where he was employed for 25 plus years.

Steve served many years on the Wilton, NH Fire Department as a lieutenant and also served on the Milford, NH Fire Department for some time. Stephen eventully moved south and landed in Hamptonville, NC in 2018 and continued to work in the tech service field and resided there up until three months before his cancer diagnosis.

Steve loved all things outdoors and spent most of his free time, hunting, fishing, riding his four wheeler and shooting guns with his friends and family. Steve also enjoyed helping his brother Dave build race cars and going to the track. Steve loved going antiquing and collecting all sorts of knick knacks to display around his home. Family was everything to Steve and nothing brought him more joy them spending time with his three children and grandchildren.

Those who knew Steve will never forget his famous phrases and one liners like “cheese and rice”, “kerfuffle” and “that a pippa” (just to name a few). Stephen lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and friends. Whether through his work, hobbies, or simple moments spent with loved ones, he made a lasting impact on those around him. He had a way of bringing joy into every room, always ready with a story, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement.

Steve is predeceased by his Mother, Brenda Clough (2017) and Sister Candice Fellows (2024).

Steve leaves behind his three children, Travis Clough and his wife Shannon Clough of Hamptonville, NC. Stephanie Demello (Clough) and her husband James Demello Jr. of Hollis, NH. Hannah Clough and her fiance Dawson Pehowski of Estherville, IA and his two granddaughters, Ryleigh Clough and Sarah Demello.

Steve also leaves behind his five siblings, David Clough of Hamptonville, NC. Thomas Clough Jr. and his wife Jan of Loudon, NH. Kelli Clough of Mytle beach, SC. Nanette Thomas and her husband Sean from Forest City, NC. Scott Clough from Conway, SC. And his best friend of 27 years, former wife, and mother of two of his three children, Debra Kelly of Mont Vernon, NH.

Steve will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the love he shared will never fade. Rest in peace, Stephen. You will always be remembered and cherished.
