Stephen R. Drouin, 49, of Gilmanton passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
Stephen was born in Concord, NH on August 1, 1966 to Robert and Sandra (Hardy) Drouin. He was raised in Bow and graduated from Concord High School, Class of 1985. Stephen enlisted in the US Army Reserves in December of 1991 and proudly served his country for 23 years, retiring as a Staff Sargent. During his extensive and highly decorated military career, Stephen was stationed in many locations all over the world. He served tours of duty in Kuwait during Operation Enduring Freedom as well as Afghanistan. Stephen lived in Loudon, NH with his family for more than 20 years, during which time he worked in several different bureaus with NH DOT. His family recently relocated to Gilmanton where they spent the last few happy months.
Stephen was also a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who adored his family. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether he was snowmobiling, fishing, four-wheeling, or participating in whatever activities the season allowed. He was an avid outdoors men, loved animals, and had an eye for finding the occasional "diamond in the rough" when it came to purchasing second-hand vehicles. Stephen was deeply patriotic and loved his country and had recently developed a previously undiscovered passion for politics due to the current polarizing presidential race.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 19 years, Vivian Renee (Vogel) Drouin; his son, Kyle Drouin of Chichester; his daughters Erica Munroe and her fiancée, Andrew Metzler of Alexandria, VA and Abigail Drouin of Gilmanton; his mother, Sandra (Hardy) Drouin of Bow, NH; brother, Craig Drouin and wife, Michelle of Loudon; and his sweet, 8-year old granddaughter, Ariana. Stephen also leaves behind a nephew, Travis Drouin, wife, Danica and their daughter, Harmonie, currently stationed in Germany; mother-in-law Virginia Lamberton of Loudon and sisters-in-law Barbara Keane and Laura Vogel and their families. Stephen was predeceased by his father, Robert Drouin.
Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday, July 7th 1:00-2:00pm at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King Street in Boscawen. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel. Interment with military honors will follow immediately at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stephen's memory may be made to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund at www.fallenheroesfund.org where 100% of your donations goes toward the organization's programs.
