Steven Medairos, Sr. 61, of Allenstown passed away peacefully March 14, 2016 following a difficult and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Steven was born in Brockton, MA November 6, 1954 to William F. and Emma L. (Walsh) Medairos. He moved to Derry, NH with his family in 1965 and he attended Pinkerton Academy. Following high school, Steven enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country during Vietnam. Upon returning to civilian life, Steven became a long-haul truck driver and he crisscrossed the country in his rig until retirement.
Steven was heavily involved in supporting our nation's veterans. He was a member of the American Legion and on the VFW and Legion Honor Guard in Derry, he was past commander of the DAV State of NH and he was always seeking out ways to make life better for our heroes. He loved to take family vacations to Weirs Beach in Laconia, NH and he was well known for his quirky sense of humor. Family was the most important thing in Steven's life and he showed it in a multitude of ways. He was a big presence in the lives of so many and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Steven is survived by his children, Christopher Ricci and wife, Kim of Jacksonville, FL, Dina Medairos and fiancée, Alain Fournier of Allenstown, NH, Steven Medairos Jr. of Allenstown, NH and Stacy Hubbard of KY; four grandchildren; siblings, Fran Paling and husband, Ed of Norwich, CT, William J. Medairos of Allenstown, NH, Rita Estes and husband, Roger of New Tazewell, TN and Mary Ann Stanley and husband, John of Deerfield, NH. In addition to his parents, Steven was predeceased by his beloved wife, Deborah (Cannucci) Medairos on January 21, 2016.
Friends and family are invited to gather Wednesday, March 23, 2016, 9:00-10:00am at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King Street in Boscawen. A memorial service will begin at 10:00 in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow immediately at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. Steven and his late wife, Deborah will be laid to rest in a tandem committal service. The family welcomes flowers, but anyone wishing to make a contribution in Steven's memory instead may do so to the veteran's organization of their choice.
