Steven Anthony “Tony” Wallis, 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 19, 1958, in Los Alamos, New Mexico, Tony was the son of Malcolm and Phyllis Wallis. He spent his childhood in the mountains of northern New Mexico, where his lifelong passion for skiing began. His parents carved trails on Pajarito Mountain, and it was there that Tony spent much of his youth ski racing and developing the deep love for the sport that would shape so much of his life.
In the late 1970s, Tony moved to New England, eventually settling in Raymond, New Hampshire, where he raised his family.
Tony worked for many years in the diesel truck industry, building a respected professional career through hard work and dedication. Yet beyond his career, it was coaching that truly defined him. What began as coaching his three children in ski racing, baseball, and soccer blossomed into a lifelong passion.
Tony began his coaching career working with youth and school-age athletes, guiding them through varsity-level soccer and instilling the fundamentals of the game. He went on to coach at the competitive club level and later at the collegiate level at St. Anselm College, where he mentored countless young athletes. Whether on the slopes or the field, he was known not only for developing talent, but for building character, confidence, and resilience in those he coached. His influence reached far beyond wins and losses, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of his players.
Later in life, Tony built a business in real estate and business coaching. He brought the same passion and dedication to this chapter as he had to athletics. A natural leader and teacher, he became a trusted mentor to many professionals, both young and seasoned. He offered guidance with grace, wisdom, and genuine friendship, always taking the time to encourage others to see their potential. Tony made a lasting impact on every path he crossed, leaving behind not only successful colleagues but confident and inspired individuals.
He was the beloved husband of Kathleen Wallis of Manchester, New Hampshire. Tony and Kathleen were married on January 20, 2006, sharing years filled with love, summers at the lake, and cherished time spent with their nine grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Wallis; his children, Steve (Carly) Wallis, Christian (Hannah) Wallis, and Melissa (Brendan) Johnson; his stepchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Oldfield and Kaitlin (Andrew) Latta; and his cherished grandchildren, Channing, Ellie, Charlotte, Genevieve, Henry, Rowen, Anson, Rooke, and Callhan.
He is also survived by his brother, Peter (Greta) Wallis; his sister, Ginny (Van) Lewis; and his sister, Pam Wallis; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Private services will be held for the family. Information concerning a celebration of life, to which friends and loved ones will be invited, will be provided at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family will be establishing a memorial initiative honoring Tony’s legacy. Details will be shared at a later date.
