Susan Mary Blanchette, 69, of Manchester, NH, passed away on January 24, 2024 at Lawrence General Hospital. Born on June 17, 1954, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Esther (Duffy) Blanchette.
Susan was a 1976 graduate of Salem State University and later earned her Master’s Degree in education from Lesley University. She had a long career as a teacher, beginning her career in elementary schools in northern New Hampshire. In 1987 she became a teacher at Maple Avenue School in Goffstown, where she worked for 32 years until her retirement in 2019. Susan’s life revolved around her work and her dedication to her students. She always went above and beyond to provide the best education she could for the children she was teaching. In the summers, she would tutor students in between her trips to Santa’s Village where she lovingly portrayed Mrs. Claus. She enjoyed being by the water, creating cherished memories both by the seaside and at Lake Winnipesaukee. In her spare time, Susan enjoyed reading and creative pursuits such as scrapbooking, ceramics and crafts.
Susan leaves behind many friends and family including Sharon Duffy Pearce and her husband Thomas, Cindy Knight and her husband Warren, and Betsy Poore Lacharite and her husband Ken.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 7th from 4-6PM with a Memorial Service at 5PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan Blanchette Book Memorial fund c/o Sylvia Osiecki, 18 Gilmore Street, Concord, NH 03301.
