Susan Jean (Snelson) Gilligan

Susan Jean (Snelson) Gilligan, 74, of Goffstown, NH, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on January 13, 2022. Born in Gloucester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Effie (Ernst) Snelson. She shared 48 years of marriage with her husband, Frederic Gilligan.

Susan was raised in Gloucester and was a 1965 graduate of Gloucester High School. She went on to study radiology at Northeastern University, graduating in 1967. Susan worked for many years as an X-Ray technician and prior to retirement worked as a sales coordinator for Micrometrics. Susan loved to travel; she looked forward to spending time with her family on their annual spring vacations, exploring a new destination each year.

Susan is survived by her husband, Frederic Gilligan of Goffstown, NH; her son, Shawn Gilligan of Derry, NH; her daughter, Kelly Gilligan of Goffstown, NH; her grandchildren, Rian and Maeve Gilligan of Hooksett, NH; her cousin Pamela Sweet of Gloucester, MA; Her nephew and niece, Drew Snelson and Laurel Wheeler of Rockport, MA; and her great-nephews, Andrew Snelson, Eamon and Camden Wheeler. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, David Snelson.

Per Susan’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name, to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
