Susan Dale Grenier, 79, of Enfield, CT, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH, following a sudden decline in health.
Born on August 30, 1946, in Hartford, CT, Susan was raised in Bloomfield and graduated from Bloomfield High School and Asnuntuck Community College with an Associate Degree in Accounting. She built a multifaceted career as a bookkeeper, medical assistant, and floral assistant, bringing her characteristic charm to each role.
Susan lived in Enfield, where she took pride in her home creating a warm and welcoming space. Outgoing and spirited, she greeted life with a ready smile and laugh. She found joy in dancing, music, embroidery, crafts, and shopping for bargains. For more than 38 years, she was a dedicated and active participant in AA, drawing lasting spiritual strength from the program and its fellowship. Above all, she cherished her role as Grandma Sue and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert Louis Grenier, Sr. and Lorraine Rita Grenier (née Vicino), and by her former husbands, Alan Sidney and Brian Phelps.
Susan is survived by her children, Allison Sidney of Marlborough, MA, and Karen Galarneau and her husband Michael of Dover, NH; her grandchildren, Danielle Castonguay and her husband Colton, Megan Merrick and her husband Case, Valerie Galarneau, and Toby Sidney; her siblings, Robert Grenier Jr. and his wife Lillian of Enfield, CT, Scott Grenier of Simsbury, CT, and Diane Costick of Narragansett, RI; and nine nieces and nephews.
Her vibrant joy of life and enduring spirited energy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to the compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at Spring Village in Dover, Elliot Hospital in Manchester, and Community Hospice House in Merrimack for their kindness and dedicated care.
Family and friends are invited for Visitation at Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 11:30 until 1:00 pm at at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT 06082. A Celebration of her Life Service will take place at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter (alz.org/ct).
