It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Susan P. Johnson (nee Hebert) on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, which was her 63rd birthday, from Multiple System Atrophy. She lived for over 30 years in Weare, New Hampshire, so while her passing occurred at Bedford Falls Assisted Living in Bedford, her heart was always in Weare.
Born on August 27, 1961 to Normand and Pauline Hebert, Sue graduated in 1979 from Memorial High School in Manchester, NH. Not long after graduation, she began a 43-year extremely successful career at Associated Grocers of New England, serving in many capacities from her very first job in the print shop to managing the Advertising and Graphics Department to Purchasing. It was at AG that she met many of her very best friends (self-described as "her tribe") who were with her until the very end.
Sue was a master candy & chocolate maker (as anyone who was on the receiving end of one of her "towers of chocolates" at Christmas can attest), and a phenomenal baker. She even taught candy making classes at AG for some time. She loved sewing & quilting as well. Some of her greatest joys over the years came from her 5 golden retrievers: Chief, Echo, Ajax, Buck & Navy.
Sue was predeceased by her mother, Pauline in 2008, and her husband, Alan "Doc" Johnson in 2022. She is survived by her father, Normand, brother, Steven Hebert and his husband, Paul Scott of Manchester, brother, Daniel Hebert and his wife, Susan of Candia; sister, Christine Donati and her husband, David of Bedford; sister, Karen Hebert and her husband, Richard Vachon of Goffstown; nephew, Brian Hebert and his partner, Emily DeVinney and their two boys, Jacob & Paxton; and niece, Megan Hebert and her son, Thomas, as well as many cousins, aunts & uncles. And, of course, her "tribe": Pam Lessard, Cindy Smith, Doreen Andreotti, and Cindy Corliss who were not only her best friends for years, but also instrumental in helping with her care and emotional support throughout her illness. Her family is grateful she had such wonderful friends that she could rely on.
SERVICES: A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Cremation Society of NH, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester, NH.
In lieu of flowers, you may consider making a donation to the Friendly Kitchen in Concord, NH (Sue dedicated many Saturdays and countless hours cooking for - and serving - the needy in Concord), The American Cancer Society, or any dog rescue organization of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bedford Falls Assisted Living for their care and compassionate support for the past year and a half, and to Home Health and Hospice Care for their dedication to addressing her needs in the last 6 weeks.
