Suzanne G. (Beaulieu) Amato

On Saturday, January 4, 2025, Suzanne was called to her rest and to the glory of the Resurrection promised by the Lord.

Suzanne was born in Berlin, N.H. on March 22, 1943, the daughter of the late Olive (Bisson) Sullivan and Henry Beaulieu.

Suzanne was educated in the Berlin school system and graduated salutatorian of her class from Saint Patrick’s High School in 1960. Sue’s Gold Star family status afforded her the opportunity for post-secondary education granted by the G.I. Bill. She attended Rivier University in Nashua. She then continued her education at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, earning a certificate to become a licensed dental hygienist, working alongside Dr. Harry Hughes at his Manchester practice.

The Queen City was where she met her soulmate and synergetic love of her life, Louis. They married in 1969. While raising her two children and a foster child, she worked nights at the Union Leader’s circulation department tirelessly for 10 years, seven days a week, only missing one day of work and it wasn’t the hellacious storm of 78’ that kept her from the deliveries. In1979, Sue and Louie collaboratively ventured into geriatric care and established Amato’s Home for the Elderly. For 30 years, they provided distinguished and dignified care with home-cooked, savory and salubrious meals for the residents, family, and synonymously always “keeping an empty seat at the table” available to anyone that would foreseeably show up! She inherently treated the residents of the home as an extension of her own family.

Sue was one of the founding members of NHARCH. Sue will be eternally loved and fondly lauded for her Golden Rule philosophy and her altruistic qualities that were the framework throughout her life. In Sue’s leisure pursuits she enjoyed hosting backyard barbecues poolside. Treasured excursions to “The Veranda Camp” in Rangeley, Maine paired with a competitive Shanghai Rummy card game with a wagered bet to pique interest. She had an affinity for animal behavior documentaries and culinary cooking shows. Her early morning routine she could be found with a cup of coffee in one hand and audibly reading above the fold article in the Union Leader with her pet quaker bird.

In addition to her parents, Sue was predeceased by her husband, Louis, February 14, 2004. She is survived by her two daughters, Gina Boucher and husband Shawn of Manchester, and Jo Hovious and husband Kyle of Hollis; a stepdaughter, Donna Boerner and husband Ed of Goffstown; her brothers, Harold Sullivan and wife Nancy of Manchester and Paul Beaulieu and wife Marjorie of Bow.

At the behest of the deceased, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside interment at the convenience of the family will be held at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Old Bedford Road, Bedford, NH.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sue’s memory to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675
