Thelma Elliott

Thelma "Doris" Williams Elliott, 94, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester.

She was born on July 26, 1926 in Everett, Massachusetts, the daughter of Renford Williams (of Canada) and Elsie Mitchell (of Massachusetts). She was married to Leonard Elliott on the 5th January in 1946, until his passing in 1982.

Thelma is predeceased by her five siblings: Don Williams, Floyd Williams, Myra Hayward, Dorothy "Dot" Niedzwiecki, and Sylvia Williams. Thelma is also predeceased by her two sons, Lenny and Bobby Elliott; and her daughter, Susan Elliott.

Survived by her three sisters, Pearl (Williams) Warmness, Jackie (Williams) Marchelletta, and Bev (Williams) Gianatassio; and her three sons, Tom and wife Arlene Elliott of Hudson, Dave and wife Eileen Elliott of Danville, and Timothy "Tim" of Tewksbury; her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Andy Morris of Manchester. Thelma is a grandmother to 18 grandchildren and a great grandmother to 18.

Thelma, affectionately known as Doris and Thel, invented the color coding of computer boards during her work at Intertel in the late 70's, early 80's. A determined woman, Thelma spent years struggling to get her driver's license and finally prevailed at 40 years old!

Thelma was a woman of boundless talents and enjoyed a lot of different activities. She always kept busy! Some of her favorite activities include games on her computer (and fighting with the AI), fishing (especially with her husband and more recently with her son, Dave and daughter-in-law, Eileen), bowling with her very own bowling ball and shoes on a couples' league with her husband, and more recently with her son, Tim and grandson Brian for recreation. She loved exercising her mind with jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles (especially with Joy) – but don't touch her puzzle pieces!, crafting of all kinds, and reading vociferously. In her spare time, she relaxed by watching Steve McQueen & Bruce Willis (for their nice bums), and listening to and watching Gaithers and Swaggart, as well as singing and playing the piano (all those good old hymns).

Thelma's family was paramount in her life. She loved to go for long, aimless drives with sister and brother-in-law Myra and Clyde Hayward, and endless visits with her sisters, Bev and Jackie, and many other family and friends. A devout Christian, Thelma enjoyed spending time with her many friends from Morning Manna Bible Study at Trinity A/G, her home church of 20 years. Thelma had a warm and welcoming heart, surrounding herself with countless family members and friends. Everyone Thelma came in contact with thought she was so sweet, lovable and adorable. Everyone - even people like her PCP, who loved his visits with her and said he always learned something from her, and the woman at the local spa who painted her toenails, and the ladies at her church who would drive any distance to get her to church and spend time together. Thelma truly touched the lives and hearts of all she met.
