Theresa Marie Chisholm

Theresa Marie Chisholm passed away peacefully in her home in Manchester, New Hampshire on February 1, 2023, at the age of 66. She was born on November 24, 1956, in Malden, Massachusetts to Donald Chisholm and Anna Theresa (Terio) Chisholm.

Terry attended Malden Public Schools, Bunker Hill Community College and Suffolk University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and later obtained her Master of Science degree in Counseling from Suffolk University. Her career began working with local youth at a residential program in Jamaica Plain, MA, where she would meet her future husband. She spent many years as an Adjustment Counselor at the Timberlane School District, helping young people with emotional and behavioral difficulties. Then for 15 years, she worked as the sole Counselor at Manchester Community College. There she helped students in every facet of their lives and education to help them succeed and thrive. During her tenure there, she established and fostered a robust Veterans Center where she, as the advisor, organized and provided extensive support to returning veterans as they pursued college degrees and put their civilian life together. Terry received numerous awards and certificates for her irrepressible drive to help others and improve their lives.

Foremost in her mind, however, was her role as a mother to three children, Lilly Anna, Zachary Phillip and Olivia Rose Afshar. They were the light of her soul and her entire life’s purpose. She was kind, compassionate and loving to her three children, and to her four brothers, Donald, John, Charles and James Chisholm. Terry loved to bake and reliably fed anyone that walked in her house, her office, or any other place food could be found. She was a loving wife to her husband, Foad Afshar. They were joined together in marriage on September 26, 1987. Their bond is unbreakable even in her passing.

No formal services will be held at this time. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
