Thomas was born on July 6, 1947 and passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Thomas J. Barrett, 71, of Concord passed away at home on January 2, 2019 following a brief illness.

Tom was born in Galway, Ireland on July 6, 1947 to Michael D. and Mary S. (McLaughlin) Barrett. His family immigrated to the United States in 1949, he obtained citizenship in 1966, and graduated from Bishop Brady High School in Concord. Tom proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service Tom worked at Rumford press, then moved on to the NH State Liquor Commission where he remained for 39 years.

Tom was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary for many years and was an active member of the American Legion Post 21 and the NH Vets Association in Weirs Beach.

Tom is survived by his wife, Maureen, to whom he would have been married 50 years this coming June; his sons, Craig and his wife Tania of Contoocook and Brendon of Concord; his grandchildren, Jordyn and Jake, who lovingly referred to him as "Ra-Ra"; his sister, Mary B. Russell of Peoria, AZ; several sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his brother, Fr. Michael Stephen Barrett.

There will be no calling hours. Tom will be laid to rest with military honors at a committal service being held Wednesday, January 16th at 11:00am, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project online at www.supportwoundedwarriorproject.org or For the Love of Dogs, a Pitbull and Rottweiler rescue, online at www.4theloveofdog.org/dogs .
