Thomas DeRoin

Thomas G DeRoin ,63, of North Conway, NH, passed away peacefully at home after years of declining health issues, with his loving wife, Nancy and family by his side.

Born in Providence, RI on February 7, 1960 to Pauline and the late William DeRoin.

Tom had many great childhood memories with his cousins and friends while living in Providence. Many times they enjoyed family vacations in NH making lasting memories. Tom’s family moved to Warwick, RI in the mid seventies before he started Junior High School.

While in High School, Mr. Caster of Caster’s Bicycle Stores, offered Tom an opportunity to run one of his new stores. Tom was a member of The Warwick Bike Rotary Club.

He graduated from Tollgate High School and Warwick Vocational School in Construction trades. During that time Tom and his classmates built their first home and sold it. That inspired Tom to build DeRoin Construction which would thrive for many years to come.

In 1977 Tom met his soul mate and unknown to him at the time, his future bride of 41 years.

Tom was always known as the quiet one, until you got to know him. He had a great sense of humor and loved parties with family and friends. From barbeques in the back yard to Christmas parties always at our house where we always ran out of room. The more the merrier he always said. Tom loved to play pool and listen to music. We had many adventures on the ocean and at the beach.  We had a close knit group of friends that would take off for a deserted island to hang out camping, telling stories and chilling out by the bonfire. Tom learned to ski at 20 years old and began staying with friends in NH. He was always up for a challenge.

One day Tom walked into their home in RI and asked Nancy, “ What do you think about putting our home on the market and move to NH?” Nancy answered OK!

After moving to NH in 2002, Tom quickly continued DeRoin Construction. Tom took pride in what he brought to his customers. He never left a job until the final details were completed, even when health issues arose. His mission was always to finish what he started.

Tom loved his family, friends and his three fur babies (Ollie, Chloe and Zoey). Tom and Nancy loved to cruise the open roads on his Indian motorcycle. Tom was an avid hiker and  Nancy joined him many times. The beauty of Mt. Washington and clear rivers, Tom and Nancy knew they had found their new home called New Hampshire.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Lassy) DeRoin, his mother Pauline (Mahon) DeRoin and all of our dear Rhode Island families and friends.
