Thomas Henton

Thomas L. Henton, 95, of Manchester, currently residing at Maple Leaf Healthcare Center, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at the Elliot Hospital after a long period of declining health.

Thomas was born in Lenoir, NC on September 11, 1923. He had a rough childhood during the depression. Later, he moved to Lander, Wyoming. He attended a one room school house, riding 50 miles on horseback each way and never missed a day of school, even through the winter. He became a rancher and took care of horses, cattle, sheep, chickens, and the ranch.

An honorably discharged veteran, Thomas joined the Wyoming National Guard and enlisted in the Army. During his six years of service, Thomas was stationed in Germany. Sadly, Thomas ended his military career when his mother took ill and passed away.

Thomas later met his wife, Oriania "Nia", who predeceased him on June 17, 2016. Together, they moved to New Hampshire to be closer to her family.

Thomas loved the outdoors; tending to his vegetable garden, visiting Old Orchard Beach and the White Mountains. He especially enjoyed the companionship of his Siamese cats.

Thomas played the accordion and the harmonica. He enjoyed playing his harmonica for his fellow residents at Maple Leaf Nursing Home, where he spent his final months.

Thomas will be sadly missed by his twin daughters, Mia and Nia.

Mia and Nia would like to thank the staff at Maple Leaf Nursing Home for their compassion and tender care. The staff treated Thomas, Mia, and Nia like family. The Henton family would also like to thank the staff at Elliot Hospital for making Thomas and his family comfortable in Thomas's final hours.
