Thomas Newton McKenzie III, of Londonderry, NH, passed away at home with his family by his side on March 22, 2017, following a courageous battle with metastatic lung cancer. He was a resident of Londonderry for 38 years.
Tom was born in Ft. Stockton, Texas, on October 10, 1942, to rancher Billy Vance and Lois McKenzie. He attended schools in Texas, New Mexico, Missouri, and Mexico and was an avid basketball player.
He was an Army Veteran and served in Vietnam in 1964-5. After his military service and college, he worked as a software engineer with Western Electric-AT&T-Lucent for more than 30 years, working in New Jersey, North Dakota, and North Andover, Massachusetts.
Tom was an avid golfer and bridge player, and was a lifelong fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, and Cowboys, who he saw win many championships throughout his lifetime.
Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara (Gerecke) McKenzie; along with his sons Tom IV and Greg McKenzie, all of Londonderry; his sister and brother-in-law Becky and Richard (Tom) Thompson of Glendale, AZ; and his brother Bill Jr. He made many life-long friends...especially Mart and Jim Adams, whom he considered his brothers.
