Tracey, our beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025 after battling chronic lung disease. She lived a life full of art, family, and friends. Surviving her are her husband, Charles Carrier; their son Chaz and daughter-in-law Amy, and their two beautiful children; her father; sister Jenni and her family. She is predeceased by her mother and her beloved canine companions, Zach, Yofi, and Penelope.
Tracey was born in Morristown, NJ, on a day she would quip “Earth Day’s my birthday.” She grew up in Mendham and attended Mendham Township Schools. She went on to Syracuse University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Tracey met her husband, Charlie, at Syracuse. After they married, they moved to Philadelphia, where Tracey landed a job as an Art Director at the Weightman Group. She loved her time there, winning some art director awards with her creative team and having a great group of coworkers and friends.
Tracey and Charlie had the chance to decide where they wanted to live and raise their family. Since they both loved skiing and hiking, they were drawn to New Hampshire. Tracey had spent her summers growing up in the Lakes Region, and would ski here on winter vacations, so she knew it would be a great place for them. Bedford seemed like a good location, about an hour away from the mountains, Boston, and the ocean. They bought a house and got their first dog. Tracey and Charlie spent their time working in their gardens and raising their son, Chaz. They introduced him to all the things they loved, like skiing, hiking, fishing, tennis, making snowmen, and loving dogs. Tracey also worked as a freelance artist and sold her artwork to companies like T.J.Maxx, Target, American Greetings, and more. She also took on the role of a homeroom parent for Chaz’s classes, going on class trips, painting murals, and creating sets for class plays.
As Chaz grew older, Tracey took on more freelance work. She started illustrating children’s books and even won some awards along the way. Tracey also worked with the McGowan Gallery, showing her artwork and taking on corporate commissions.
Tracey, being an art enthusiast, naturally found her way to the Currier Museum of Art. When a part-time job opportunity arose, she applied and joined the Currier staff in 2005. Tracey has always been passionate about supporting art in the state. She has worked with galleries, the NHIA, and the NH State Libraries to promote art and reading. Tracey was selected as the illustrator for the 2006 CHILAS “Treasure Reading” program. In 2007, Tracey was asked to teach and write the curriculum for Senior Studio Course at the NHIA for students majoring in Illustration. Tracey was asked to write the curriculum for and teach a History of Illustration course. This challenge was something Tracey enjoyed while still working at the Currier and doing freelance work. Eventually, Tracey decided to take on more responsibilities at the Currier and became the full-time Guest Services and Membership Manager, a role she absolutely loved, and where she worked until 2022.
By then it was clear that more time with Charlie, Chaz, and his dear family would be a priority. They all have brought Tracey so much joy. She was grateful for the precious time spent with family and friends.
A celebration of Tracey’s life will be held with family and friends at a future date.
