Virginia L. Robinson

Virginia L. (Davis) Robinson, age 90, of Easton, died peacefully on the afternoon of Thursday August 19th, 2010 at the Lafayette Center in Franconia. She was the wife of the late James E. Robinson of Rhode Island. Mrs. Robinson was born in Gorham, NH, on June 12th 1920, to Harry S. and Louise Belle (Curtis) Davis. She was the fourth child of ten siblings, and was raised on Coppermine Farm in Easton Valley. She was graduated from the Dow Academy of Franconia, Class of 1938, where she was Senior Class President, and Captain of the Girls’ Basketball team. Virginia married her husband, James, on June 14th 1941, at the First Baptist Church in Rumford, Rhode Island. As her husband served abroad during WWII, she worked as a bookkeeper for the former Pinkerson’s Department Store in Providence, RI, as well as for the Providence School District. Virginia was an amazing cook, an avid nature lover, who enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and hiked trails well into her 70's. Her biggest pride rested in her children and grandchildren. She was the heart and soul of her family. Virginia created a home for herself and an environment that served as the central meeting place for her entire family, immediate and extended. Those who knew her couldn’t help but be bettered by her, and regarded her as a woman of immeasurable strength, infinite patience, and unwavering kindness. Her warm, loving nature remains a strong example for her family. She was a long-time resident of both Easton, New Hampshire, and Johnston, Rhode Island. She is survived by her three daughters, Mrs. Virginia O’Shan, and Mrs. Myra Dionne, both of Smithfield, R.I., Mrs. Wendy Riddensdale of Landaff, N.H.; six grandchildren, Christopher Conneally, Mrs. Kristen Allen, Mrs. Erika Abou Kelila, Robin Dionne, Katie Dionne, and Mrs. Stephanie Shaker; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sylva Rhodes of Lexington, South Carolina, and Mrs. Marjorie Gruber, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was widowed in January of 2000, after 58 years of marriage, and was predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. At her request there will be no funeral services.
