Virginia Abbe Skillin, a resident of Franconia, NH passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on March 25th, 2023, at Littleton Regional Hospital. She was born on March 28th, 1930, in South Windsor, CT where she spent her childhood on a farm with her parents, Raymond Whitney and Rosella (Abbe) Whitney.
Virginia was a dedicated gardener, taking pride in growing her own fruits, vegetables, and flowers. For years she worked in the tobacco fields. She had a deep love for all animals. Virginia was a devoted member of the Windsorville United Methodist Church, the church in which she was baptized and married to her late husband, Forest Skillin. She held her faith close to her heart, and her kind spirit and compassionate nature were evident to all who knew her. In addition to her love of gardening and animals, Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family and participating in church activities. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her brother, Doyle Whitney and her daughter, Darleen Skillin.
She is survived by her daughter, Laverne (Lee) Chamberlain; granddaughter, Mandy Bailey, her husband Travis Bailey and their two children, Ayden and Konnor; granddaughter, Kerrie Charland, her husband Bruce Charland and their two children, Carter and Cason; granddaughter, Ciara Stallings Mats, her partner Timmy, and their children: Exavier, Damon, and Makyai; niece, Reneann Lara, her husband Gabriel Lara, and their children, Victoria Davis Karliner and Alexander Lara. Also surviving Virginia is her great niece, Maisy Karliner.
