Vito "Tony" Ruggiero

Vito (Tony) A. Ruggiero, of New Boston, NH, was born on May 5, 1957 in Queens, NY and raised in East Islip, Long Island, Tony joined the Air Force upon graduation from East Islip High School.

In 1981, Tony and his family relocated to Manchester, NH. Tony worked for many years at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections, rose through the ranks to retire as a Lieutenant and later finished his working career as the overnight supervisor at the former Sam’s Club in Manchester, NH.

Keeping him forever in their hearts are his loving wife of forty-three years, Jude Ruggiero; his five children, Jim Ruggiero of Washington, DC; Brian Ruggiero and his wife Jamie of Elkridge, MD; Crystal Ruggiero of New Boston, NH; Robert Ruggiero of Claremont, NH; and Jessie Ruggiero and her significant other, Zack Anderson of Bellows Falls, VT; as well as his three grandchildren; Alex Ruggiero of San Diego, CA; Alivia Ruggiero of Windsor Mill, MD; and Kylee Anderson of Bellows Falls, VT.

Tony was the oldest of nine, leaving his sister Kim and her husband Ralph Scheriff of Deer Park, NY; his sister Lisa of West Babylon, NY; his brother David and his wife Imelda of Levittown, PA; his sisters Audra, Dana and Stacey of Queens, NY; his sister Stephanie of Ohio; and his brother Peter of Pittsfield, MA; as well as many nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tony was a foster father to many children in care with the Manchester DCYF for over a decade. Prior to his illness he enjoyed playing softball, golf and league bowling. He was a quiet, reserved and private person with an incredible and often unexpected quick wit. His love of music ranged from Dean Martin to Elvis to Green Day, from Rock and Roll to Country. He was a lifelong NY Yankees fan and loved the rivalry with Boston; always joking with friends about the two teams. While he left us far too soon, he will remain in our hearts and thoughts forever.

Services attended privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html.
