Waldo F. "Wally" Sellar

Waldo F. "Wally" Sellar, 95, of Bow peacefully passed away on October 15, 2016 at Hospice House in Concord, NH following a brief illness.
Wally was born to the late Jacob and Bertha (MacLeod) Sellar on September 2, 1921 in Fredricton, PEI, Canada. Following his father's death, when Wally was a young boy, the family came to Warner, NH where Wally was raised and graduated from Simonds Free High School in 1939. Wally Enlisted in the US Army in February 1942. During WWII he traveled to Europe on the Queen Mary ship as part of the 7th Armored Division and the European Theater Operations. He was involved in many battles from France to the Baltic Sea including the Battle of the Bulge. Following his service, he was employed as a salesman at Sanel Auto Parts from which he retired after 39 years of service at the age of 78. Wally is a 50 year member of the Blazing Star Masonic Lodge, the First Congregational Church and the VFW. He was also director and longtime member of the Pleasant Lake Association.
Wally is survived by Margaret, his wife of 65 years. Other survivors include his sons, Dr. John Sellar of Canterbury, Bruce Sellar and wife, Lynda of Hampton and Wayne Sellar of Yucca Valley, CA. He leaves six grandchildren, a great-grandson and brother, Carl Jewell. Wally was predeceased by his brother, Wilmont Sellar.
Through the years Wally's passions were many. Wally loved his German Shepherds that were his constant companions for decades. Daily he was seen walking around the neighborhood with his pal beside him. During the summer months, people would spot Wally and Margaret cruising around Pleasant Lake in Northwood on their vintage boats where they enjoyed their lakefront cottage for more than 50 years. Wally's other passions were cars, trucks and snowmobiles.
Wally, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, a brother, and uncle and a friend, will be dearly missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend the cemetery committal and military honors at 11:00am Tuesday, October 25th in the chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Concord Regional VNA Hospice, PO Box 1797, Concord, NH 03301.
