Walter (Walt) R. Bennett - Son, Brother, Father, Husband, Veteran and Friend to so many passed peacefully surrounded by his family on 1/6/2025 at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH from respiratory issues. 

Son of Dorothy (Webb) Bennett and Harry Bennett, Walt graduated from Berwick High School and proudly entered the US Navy in August of 1966 to serve his country during the Vietnam War. Walt served aboard the USS Yorktown as an E2 jet engine mechanic. He received the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal during his service.

Returning to Berwick after his military service, Walt worked with his father and brother in the family business - B&B Plumbing. Walt also worked for a short period of time at Davidson Rubber before moving on to his career in 1978 at the University of New Hampshire (UNH-Durham) that spanned 40 years. During Walt’s UNH employment he held the positions of Plumber/Pipefitter, certified gas fitter, mechanical trades supervisor and project manager.

Upon retirement, Walt had time to pursue his hobbies. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, ATV riding and his favorite - motorcycle riding. Walt enjoyed collecting and refurbishing antique cars and was a member of the Lone Wolf Cruisers. Walt and his wife of 38 years, Susanne Bennett, enjoyed traveling and especially cruising to warm destinations.

Walt played bugle in a regional drum and bugle corp and performed in a semi-professional clogging group. As commander of the Barrington VFW, he served Post 6804 for several years. Walt was an avid stock car and drag racing fan. He enthusiastically followed every racing season and also served many seasons on the Security Teams for Lee USA Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and New England Dragway. 

Walt is predeceased by his father Harry Bennett, his beloved mother Dorothy (Webb) Bennett, his sisters Marilyn Bennett and Dorothy Marble, niece Sherri Blundell, brother Howy Bennett and granddaughter Amelya Myers.

Walt is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Susanne Bennett, his son Rodney Bennett and his wife Susan Bennett, his daughter Brandon Pinard and her fiancé Chris Cady, daughter Courtney Dodge, sister Barbara Hurley and her husband Michael, sister-in-law Beth Bennett and her husband Adam Hanna.. His pride and joy grandchildren include Cassie Bennett, Denten Bennett, Bryhannah Pinard, Cameren Brown, Leigha Brown, Elissa Pinard, Riley Pinard, Xzavier Myers, Ezequiel Myers and several nieces and nephew. Walt was blessed with the enduring friendship of so many. Walt will be missed but continue to be loved by us all! Be ready for when he greets you at Heaven’s gate with that infamous greeting of “What’s Up”! ❤️ We love you Walt❣️❣️

A memorial service will be held in the Spring at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Date and time to be determined. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is assisting with arrangements.
