Walter P. Johnston, 87, died February 15, 2003 at his home in Campton. He was born on June 18, 1915 in Tabusintac, New Brunswick, Canada the son of Elmond and Elizabeth Johnston. At 12 years of age he moved to the United States and attended schools in both Canada and New Hampshire. He worked for Draper Company in Beebe River, NH and retired from the NH Department of Transportation. He was an avid snowmobiler and enjoyed grooming the trails. Family members include; his wife of 65 years, Alyuna (Palmer) Johnston of Campton; two sons, Everett "Ted" Johnston and Leigh Johnston both of Campton; 6 grandsons; 12 great grandchildren; step mother, Sarah Johnston of Ontario; three brothers, Havelock Johnston of Ontario, Blair Johnston of Toronto and Ed Babino of Weymouth, MA; five sister, Hattie Foley of New Brunswick, Mary Scott of New Brunswick, Trudy Duff of Ontario, Phyllis Clay of Weymouth, MA and Geraldine Roseback of Weymouth, MA. Graveside services will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Pemi Baker Home Heath and Hospice, Highland Street, Plymouth, NH 03264.
