Walter E. Lagasse, 61, of Tucker Shore Road, Belmont died suddenly on October 29, 2000 at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. Mr. Lagasse was born on January 29, 1939 in Haverhill, MA the son of the late Edward and June (Apitz) Lagasse. He was a US Army Veteran and a graduate of Northeastern University in Burlington, MA. He was active in residential real estate sales in Southern New Hampshire since 1989 and was employed by DeWolfe New England Real Estate in Londonderry. Prior to 1989 Mr. Lagasse was a supervisor for Raytheon Corp. In Andover, MA and a corporate security supervisor for the New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon. He was the Vice President of the Belmont Snow Mobile Club and an active fundraiser for the Easter Seals Society. He was a past community program chairperson in Southern New Hampshire and past president and board member of the New Hampshire Snow Mobile Club as well as past president of the Hudson Snow Mobile Club. Mr. Lagasse helped establish ''A Safe Place'' Shelter, a safe home for abused women and children in Salem. Family members include; his spouse of 26 years, Barbara (McCarthy) Lagasse; one son, Robert Lagasse of Massachusetts; one daughter, Terese Turner of Massachusetts; one step-son, Geoffrey Speers Jr. Of New Hampshire; one stepdaughter, Cheryl Waitt of New Hampshire; thirteen grandchildren; one brother, Robert Sullivan of Massachusetts; two sisters, Rita Hanna and Jackie LaBranche both of Massachusetts; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 4th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 25 North Road (Route 4), Chelmsford, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to ''A Safe Place'' Shelter, 15 Ermer Road, Suite 125, Salem, NH 03079.
