Warren A. Swindell, 88, died peacefully at his home in Mont Vernon, NH on Friday, March 28, 2025 with family members by his side. Warren was born on December 2, 1936 in Melrose, MA to Donald O.A. Swindell and Helen I. (nee MacKillop) Swindell and grew up in Everett, MA. Growing up, Warren was active in DeMolay as well as his church and when he was older Warren was an Auxiliary Fireman for the Everett Fire Department. Warren graduated from Boston University in 1958 with a Bachelor’s degree and after graduation served honorably in the US Army, stationed in the Philippines. After the Army, Warren married Dawn A. Fortin, and joined Honeywell where he had a long career as a manager and instructor in the company’s computer division. After leaving Honeywell, Warren had a second career at Brooks Brothers before retiring.
Warren and Dawn raised their three sons, Keith, Eric and John in Framingham, MA. Warren was active in the Wesley Methodist church and many civic activities in Framingham, including the Jaycees and JCI Senate, many members of which he counted as his closest friends. Warren loved the Boston Bruins, the former Boston Braves and the Red Sox, sticking by them in good years and bad. Warren’s love of sports led him to play hockey and softball for many years as well as coaching youth hockey and baseball. He was also active in Special Olympics. Warren loved children and greatly enjoyed visits with and stories about his much adored great-grandchildren.
Warren was predeceased by his parents, a granddaughter and a great-grandson. Warren leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Dawn, his three sons, their wives, seven grandchildren and their spouses, four great-grandchildren and a brother.
Warren will be cremated with a memorial service to be arranged in late May.
Donations in Warren’s memory may be made to Special Olympics Massachusetts or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for cancer research.
