Wilfred "Will" F. Belanger, 73, of Manchester, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Elliot Hospital, surrounded by his loving family following a brief period of decline.
Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Herve and Dora (Souriolle) Belanger. Raised and educated in Manchester, he had been employed by Dawson Fletcher Shoe Shop for 25 years and for the Manchester Housing Authority for many years prior to retirement.
An honorably discharged veteran, Wilfred proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
A beloved husband and friend, Will's family and friends were paramount in his life. He was active with the Disabled American Veterans, touching many lives of other veterans and countless members of the community. A breeder of Himalayan cats, he found great comfort in the companionship with his cats. Will and his wife, Lugene enjoyed long drives, especially on the seacoast. Will will be best remembered for his love of life and dedication to his family and friends.
Will is survived by his wife, Lugene Belanger of Manchester, with whom he shared nearly 15 years of marriage; step-daughter, Lisa Briere and husband Greg of Manchester; step-son, Michael Gomulka and wife Crystal of Farmington; two step-grandchildren, Austin and Alexis; nephew and God-son, Gerald Gendron; and many dear friends in the community he loved like family.
ARRANGEMENTS: His Memorial Gathering will be held at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Thursday, June 16 from 5:00 to 6:00P.M. with a Celebration of Life at 6:00P.M. A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, on Thursday, June 23 at 1:00P.M. Friends and relatives invited.
