William Martin Adams, 75, of 301 Bayside Road in Greenland died September 11, 2002 at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Adams was born on May 26, 1927 in Pawtucket, RI the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Russell) Adams. He was educated at Pawtucket East High School and the Rhode Island School of Design. He was a member of the Rhode Island State Police for 9 years and was a security manager for Verizon Telephone Company for 26 years retiring in 1988. Mr. Adams was a U S Navy Veteran who served during World War II and was a former commander of the Greenland Veterans Association. He was also a member of the Prime Time Club in Portsmouth. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing and loved his garden. He was also a Friend of Bill W. Family members include; his wife Elizabeth (Jones) Adams; two sons, John W. (Margaret) Adams of Warwick, RI and William K. (Susan) Adams of Greenland; two granddaughters, Kristen A. Adams of Chicago, IL and Jennifer Collins of Bridgewater, MA; a great grandson, Cameron Michael Collins; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Russell, Kenneth, John and Stewart Adams. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18th at Noon at St. John's Episcopal Church, 101 Chapel Street in Portsmouth.
