William Granville James, a long-time resident of Willsboro, New York, passed away on October 9, 2022 in Manchester, New Hampshire at the age of 75. Born in Seattle, Washington, Bill was a Vietnam-era Navy veteran who served on USS Benjamin Stoddard (DDG-22). His Navy career spanned 22 years, retiring as a Navy Supply Corps Captain (O6). A graduate of Colgate University and the Law Center at Georgetown University, Bill worked as a labor and employment attorney for over 40 years in New York City and San Francisco before moving to private practice focusing on legal issues for non-profit organizations.
He was proud of his work founding the Essex Maritime Festival and Aiken’s Volunteers Fife & Drum Corps, as well as supporting the development of the Champlain Valley Film Society.
Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kenda James and their daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Nathan Richard. Bill and Kenda moved to New Hampshire in 2022 after 32 years in Willsboro, New York. He was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Louise James and his only brother, Richard.
Bill will be memorialized at the National Cemetery in Saratoga, New York.
