William ''Bill'' Gilbert Jr., 74, of 1 Scottsdale Road, Atkinson died on December 1, 2001 at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Gilbert was born on September 26, 1927 in Medford, MA, the son of the late Frank and Laura (Zwicker) Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was a US. Navy veteran who served during WWII. Bill worked for Bell Labs throughout the northeast as an electrical engineer for over 32 years. He was a graduate of Wentworth Instuite of Technology from whom on his 50th anniversary received an honorary degree. In retirement, he and Dick opened a Bed and Breakfast which they ran for nine years in Provincetown. They then retired to Bill's home in Atkinson, in 1982. Family members included; one sister Ruth Mellich of El Paso, TX and his long time companion of over 25 years, Richard ''Dick'' Knudson of Atkinson, NH. A celebration of life will be held at his home on Saturday, December 8th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.
