William Hull

William Alliston Hull, age 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Rockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Centre in Brentwood, New Hampshire. Bill was born in Boston, Massachusetts and attended the Dorchester schools. He was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Boys, class of 1953. He married Phyllis Regali on June 16, 1962, at Trinity Church in Boston, Massachusetts.

While in high school, Bill was a member of the cross country, indoor, and outdoor track teams.  This led to a lifelong enjoyment of the sport and a membership in the Massachusetts Track and Field Association. He spent many years officiating high school and college track and field events and could be seen each year at the finish line of the Boston Marathon with a stopwatch and clipboard in hand, giving runners the good news that they had finished their race. Bill played the sousaphone and trombone for the DHSB marching band as well as a marching band led by his father. His love of music also extended to singing, sharing his tenor skills with church choirs and community choruses for many years.

Upon graduation, Bill began working for Pilgrim Trust Company in Boston. He remained with the bank through many mergers and name changes until his retirement in 1992. After his retirement, Bill drove a school van for children with special needs.

Bill served his country from 1958 to 1964 after being drafted into the Army. He spent a great deal of that time stationed in Germany, where he served as a Clerk of Courts.

Bill is survived by Phyllis, his wife of 61 years, as well as his son Jeffrey and his wife Mary and their children Elizabeth, Matthew, and Kerry; his daughter Cindi and her husband Jay Martin and their daughters Sarah and Jessica Brassil; his sister Beatrice (Hull) Tarbox; and ten nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his sister Marilyn (Hull) Roundy.
