William ‘Bill’ Thaddeus Hunter of Bedford, New Hampshire passed away on January 13, 2025, at the age of 95, just 16 days short of his 96th birthday. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Lois (Loi) Hunter, in 2007 after 53 years of marriage.
Bill was vibrant and active right up until suffering a stroke while at his winter home in Naples, Fl. He passed away surrounded by his four loving children, Thad, Jody, Jill, and Mike.
Bill was born in Brandon, Colorado on January 29, 1929 to Thaddeus and Elsie Hunter, and raised in Wichita, Kansas. Bill was an athlete in High School and College, running the 2 mile and lettering in the event. He attended both Wichita and Kansas State University, receiving a degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation he got his dream job with Pratt and Whitney. However, the Korean war intervened and he was drafted into the Army. After basic training he was sent east to use his knowledge and degree on radar systems. He had stated on many occasions that being in the Army was one of the best times of his life!
While he was back east, he met the love of his life at the Jersey shore, Lois Anita Tackella. He left the Army, got a job with Sperry Rand and was married to Lois (Loi). Sperry sent him to Europe to oversee US radar systems. While in Europe, his first child was born. The three Hunters moved back to the US shortly thereafter, settling in Northport, Long Island, NY where they would have three more children.
in 1967 he took a new job with Sanders Associates in Nashua NH, and moved the family to New Hampshire, eventually settling in Bedford.
Bill would take early retirement and start his own very successful company, H6 Systems which is now owned and operated by his youngest son, Mike.
Bill was very social and liked by all. He and Loi enjoyed playing bridge with friends. They took the family on many vacations, camping, skiing, swimming and waterskiing. They purchased a camp on a lake and had many good times there. Bill was known to jet ski even at 95! He also loved cruising in his bright red corvette.
In his nineties, Bill enjoyed visiting and traveling with his lovely lady friend Doris Unruh. Bill loved to dance and really enjoyed it. A devout Christian, Bill stated on many occasions that he owed his success, and wonderful happy life to his faith in his lord and savior Jesus Christ and his understanding of bible doctrine. He stated that anyone could have the same thing if they wanted it. One of his favorite days of the week was Sunday, attending church where he could visit with best friends Dexter and Sue Jewell.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Thaddeus and Elsie Hunter, sisters Dorothy, Juanita, and Gerry, he is remembered and adored by his children, Thad and wife Lisa Hunter, Jody Hunter and husband Joe Herbert, Jill Hunter and Husband Ray Smoyer, and Mike and wife Karen Hunter, grand children Matthew and wife Emily Hunter, Nathan and wife Alexa Hunter, Devin Hunter and Lee hunter, and great grandson Rowan Hunter.
