It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of William J. Moses on April 24, 2026 after a brief battle with Cancer. Bill was born December 12, 1957 in Plymouth, NH to Forrest and Marguerite (Matthews) Moses. He and his family moved to California when he was 5 years old and lived there until 1970, when they settled in Franklin, NH. Bill attended Franklin High School where he made many life long friends. As an adult, he primarily worked in construction, most notably bridge construction. Later in his life, he worked at Vutek in Meredith, NH and in his retirement worked at the Rumney Transfer Station. Having lived in Rumney for more than 45 years, he had a strong connection with his community and truly enjoyed seeing everyone when they stopped by the transfer station.

Bill was well known in and around the area due to his life long passion for music. From singing on the radio in Los Angeles at 6 years old (and singing with his parent’s band), to writing and performing music his whole adult life, to building guitars (and giving them away to friends and family). In his retired years, Bill’s love of people and passion for music reached many. Bill could be found anywhere by his constant whistling and would always stop to talk to someone he knew. Bill had a deep faith in god, and believed that music was a gift, and could reach Heaven’s ear and made sure he shared that gift wherever he went.

Bill was also known locally for race car driving at race tracks such as Legion Speedway (formally Norway Pines Speedway) In Rumney, NH. Bill’s racing career spanned more than 30 years, starting with his father and uncles, until he himself was a driver. During those years he competed against drivers who were also counted amongst his friends. Bill was respected by the tracks he raced at, fondly know as “Billy Guitar Moses” and was loved by all fans. Long after retirement, he was still willing to encourage new drivers and share the knowledge he had gained.

Bill’s zest for life lead to many hobbies over the years that he enjoyed; to include gardening and canning with his wife Heidi, playing music with his band members, instrument making, wood carving and many other artistic adventures. Bill loved history and storytelling, which was evident in his song writing and his ability to talk to anyone. Being with his family meant everything to him, and he was known for his easy smile and wicked sense of humor. Bill was all of the kids’ favorite uncle and a consistent part of his families lives.

Bill is survived by his wife Heidi, who he was committed to for over 40 years. Bill is also survived by his children who he loved deeply, Bobbie-Jo Briggs, Jacky Moses, David Moses, William Moses and Vanessa Moses; his siblings Velma Papkey, Betty Moses, Michael Moses, Raymond Moses and Wanda Sargent; many, many nieces and nephews and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, cousins and friends. Bill’s dog, Pedro, who he adored. Bill will be missed by many.

Bill’s preceded in death by his parents and his older sister Linda Moses.

Bill’s family would like to invite all those people who have called him a friend, or family, to join us on Sunday, July 5th at 2-5pm to celebrate a life well lived and well shared. The celebration of life will be held at is brother Ray Moses’ house located at 123 Orange Rd., Canaan, NH. The Cremation Society of NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
