William T. Smith

William T. Smith, 74, of 531 North Barnstead Road in Center Barnstead died suddenly on January 25, 2002 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester. Mr. Smith was born on May 4, 1927 in Appleton, Wisconsin the son of the late William and Lucille (Look) Smith. He spent his childhood in Hannibal, Missouri and after high school spent 2 years in the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Missouri and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he received his chemical engineering degree. After graduation he became a chemical engineer for Hercules, Inc. for 38 years which took him throughout the United States and Canada. After retirement he traveled the world as a renowned pentaerythritol consultant where he worked with major international companies. He then moved to New Hampshire in the early 1980's. Mr. Smith was an accomplished pianist and was a member of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. He helped his wife raise birds and was a member of the BOAF Club in New Hampshire. Family members include; his wife of 50 years, Nicole (Bernier) Smith; one son and daughter-in-law, J. Eric and Juli Smith of Sandy, Oregon; and one daughter, Danielle R. Smith of Hooksett. A Memorial Reception will be held on Monday, February 4, 2002 from 6:00 until 7:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Congregational Church of North Barnstead, North Barnstead Road, Center Barnstead, NH 03225.
