William Soterion, 89, of Ellenton, FL and Manchester, NH, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. He is the beloved husband of Joanne (Lavertu) Soterion with whom he shared over 48 years of marriage.
He was born on January 19, 1935 in Manchester the son of George and Anna Soterion.
At age 14, Bill was the first “Boy of The Year” at The Manchester Boys Club. He graduated from Central High School in 1952 and attended the Tilton School. He received a scholarship to Georgia Tech but the Korean Conflict changed his plans. He proudly served in the US Army as a medic, and after his time, he worked for the US Postal Service in Manchester until his retirement. Bill and his wife Joanne, retired to Florida. He competed in bridge tournaments with Joanne, ran the cribbage league, and especially loved to cook Greek and Polish dishes, a legacy from working at his parents’ restaurant.
Bill loved life, loved people, and laughed easily. If you needed a helping hand, his was extended with a smile before you could ask. He will be truly missed by family and friends alike.
Along with his wife Joanne, Bill is survived by his loving stepchildren, Joy and Jeff Cantara; grandchildren, Allyson and Zachary; 4 great grandchildren; and a sister Carol Llewellyn. He is predeceased by his parents, and brother Charles Soterion.
His life is being celebrated on Friday, March 8th at 12:00pm at The New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery Chapel in Boscawen, NH. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
