William J. Thompson, Jr., 59, of 29 School Street, Wolfeboro, died at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. He was born in Manchester on June 23, 1943, the son of William and Rita (Hogan) Thompson and had been lifelong resident of New Hampshire, the last five years being in Wolfeboro. He attended the University of New Hampshire. He was a independent antiquarian bookseller for many years and was a member of the New Hampshire Antiquarian Booksellers Association. He was known for his caustic wit and his good laugh. He enjoyed reading and collecting books and spending time outdoors. Family members include his mother of Rockland, ME; two sisters, Elizabeth Pedersen of Manchester and Margaret Bieniek of Durham; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. A memorial service will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. In lieu flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101, Unit 501, Bedford, NH 03110.
